Quote Community: Terms of Use

Last Updated: October 9, 2026

English · Español · Deutsch · Français · Italiano

These terms apply to Quote Community on iPhone and Android. Our other apps are covered at the end. How we use personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

The short version

  • Write your own words. No famous quotes, song lyrics, lines from books, films, series or games, and nothing written by someone else.
  • Be decent: no hate, threats, bullying, sexual content, personal data or spam.
  • Your quote is public to everyone in your language community and can't be edited once published.
  • If you break the rules we remove the quote. If it keeps happening, you won't be able to post for a while.
  • We tell you why, and you can ask a person to look again.
  • You must be 18 or older. The app is free and shows ads.

This summary helps you read the terms. The full terms below are what count.

1. Who we are

Quote Community is run by Pablo García Aldehuela, an individual based in Germany. Full details are in our Legal notice (Impressum).

  • Address: Friedenstr. 97, 10249 Berlin, Germany
  • Email: support@pablocoding.dev

This email is our single point of contact for users and for authorities under the EU Digital Services Act. You can write to us in English, Spanish or German. A person always answers, not a bot.

2. Accepting these terms

When you sign in, you accept these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

3. Who can use the app

3.1 You must be 18 or older. If we find out that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it.

3.2 One account per person. Keep your Apple or Google sign-in secure. You are responsible for what is posted from your account.

4. How the app works

4.1 You choose a language. That language is your community.

4.2 You can publish one quote per day in your community, from 20 to 200 characters. Once published, it can't be edited.

4.3 Your quote is public to everyone using the app in that language. So are your username, profile picture, wins, achievements, and who you follow and who follows you.

4.4 You have one vote per day, and you can't vote for your own quote. Votes decide the daily winner and the rankings.

4.5 People can follow you, and you can share a quote. The share text contains the quote, the author's username and a link that opens the quote in the app.

4.6 You can block other users. You then no longer see each other's quotes or profiles, and any follows between you are removed. You can unblock someone at any time in Settings > Blocked Users.

5. The rules

5.1 Only your own words

Your quote must be something you wrote. The following are not allowed, even with a credit, even if the text is very old, and even if you have permission:

  • famous quotes and sayings by other people;
  • song lyrics and poems;
  • lines or passages from books, plays, films, series or video games;
  • lines spoken by fictional characters;
  • slogans, adverts and brand taglines;
  • posts, messages or other texts written by someone else.

Short everyday phrases that nobody owns are fine, as long as you aren't passing off someone's well-known line as your own. The moderator decides borderline cases.

5.2 Never allowed

  • Hate or contempt against people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar characteristics.
  • Threats, encouraging violence, or praising terrorism or violent groups.
  • Bullying, harassing or humiliating a real person.
  • False claims that damage a real person's reputation.
  • Anyone's personal information, such as an address, phone number or ID number.
  • Sexual content. Any sexual content involving minors gets the account closed and reported to the authorities (see our Child Safety Standards).
  • Encouraging suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.
  • Selling or promoting drugs, weapons or other illegal goods.
  • Spam, adverts, links, email addresses or other contact details.
  • Pretending to be another person or organisation.
  • Anything else that is illegal in Germany, in the European Union, or where you live.

5.3 Usernames

Usernames follow the same rules. We may ask you to change a username that breaks them, or change it to a neutral one.

5.4 Play fair

No extra accounts, bots or scripts. No vote trading, and no groups voting together to push a quote. Don't report quotes just because you don't like them.

6. Your quotes and our licence

6.1 You keep the rights in what you write.

6.2 You give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, copy, display and make your quotes and username available to the public:

  • inside the app: feed, rankings, profiles, history and notifications;
  • in share texts that users create.

The licence lasts as long as the quote is in the app. Our hosting and technical providers may handle your quotes, but only to run the app.

6.3 We may also show quotes on the app's store pages, in screenshots and in adverts for the app. When we do, we won't show your username unless you agree.

6.4 If you delete your account, your quotes stay in the rankings and history, but they are no longer linked to you and appear as "deleted account". If you want a specific quote removed, email us. We will remove it when the law requires it, for example if it contains personal data that must be deleted, and we will consider any other good reason.

6.5 We will not sell your quotes, and we won't use them in books, merchandise or other products without asking you first.

7. How we moderate

7.1 Automatic checks before publishing. The app blocks quotes that contain links, email addresses, emoji, special characters, or words from a banned-word list. If your quote is blocked, you'll see why and can rewrite it.

7.2 Reports. Any user can report a quote and choose a reason: Plagiarism / Famous quote, Offensive, Spam, Duplicate or Other. You can also report a user. Anyone, even without an account, can report illegal content by email (section 8).

7.3 Automatic hiding. If 3 different people report the same quote within 24 hours, the quote is hidden automatically from everyone except its author and shows as "Under review" until a person checks it. This step is automatic. No person decides it.

7.4 Human review. A human moderator, currently the operator of the app, reviews reported and hidden quotes and decides whether to restore or remove them. Every removal is decided by a person. We aim to review reports within 48 hours. It can sometimes take longer, but serious threats are handled first.

7.5 Repeated breaks.

  • If 3 of your quotes are removed in total, you can't post for 1 month.
  • Each further removal starts a new, longer block: 2 months, then 3 months, and so on.
  • After your first block, a moderator checks each new quote before others can see it.
  • We may suspend or close an account straight away for serious breaches: threats, sexual content involving minors, serious or repeated hate, organised vote manipulation, or being under 18.
  • In all other cases, we will warn you before closing your account.

7.6 We tell you why. When we hide, remove or restore your quote, or limit your posting, you get a notice in the app. Email us and we will tell you which rule it was about, whether it started with reports, an automatic step or our own check, and how long it lasts. You can also disagree with the decision (section 9).

7.7 Safety and the law. If content suggests that someone's life or safety is in danger, we will tell the police. We follow valid orders from courts and authorities.

7.8 We don't check every quote before it is published, except as described above.

8. Reporting illegal content (anyone can do this)

8.1 Email support@pablocoding.dev with the subject "Illegal content report" and include:

  • (a) which quote: the share link, or the text, date and username;
  • (b) why it is illegal, and which law or right you think it breaks;
  • (c) your name and email. These are not needed if you are reporting child sexual abuse;
  • (d) this sentence: "I believe in good faith that the information in this report is accurate and complete."

8.2 We will confirm that we received your report, decide on it, and tell you what we decided and how you can challenge it.

8.3 Copyright owners: please also say which work was copied, and confirm that you own it or act for the owner.

8.4 If someone keeps sending reports that are clearly unfounded, we may stop processing their reports for a while.

9. If you disagree with a decision

  • Email support@pablocoding.dev within 6 months of the decision. Include the date of the quote and why you think we got it wrong.
  • A person will look at it again and reply, normally within 10 working days.
  • If we got it wrong, we will undo the decision: restore the quote or lift the block.
  • If you reported a quote, you can also ask us to look again at what we decided.
  • Accounts closed for sexual content involving minors will not be restored.
  • You can always take the matter to the courts, or to a consumer authority or association in your country. You can also complain to Germany's Digital Services Coordinator, the Bundesnetzagentur, or to the one in your country.
  • We are not obliged to take part, and do not take part, in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

10. Leaving, and closing accounts

10.1 You can delete your account at any time in Profile > Settings > Delete Account, or as explained on our Delete Account page. Section 6.4 explains what happens to your quotes.

10.2 We may suspend or close an account for the reasons in section 7.5.

10.3 If we ever shut down the app, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before.

11. Ads and other companies

11.1 The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. We don't choose individual ads, and we don't endorse them. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland you can change your ad choices in Settings > Privacy settings. On iPhone you can also allow or refuse tracking when the app asks you. More details are in the Privacy Policy.

11.2 Signing in with Apple or Google is also subject to their own terms.

11.3 Apple and Google are not parties to these terms. They are not responsible for the app, its content or its support.

12. Changes

12.1 We may change the app or these terms for valid reasons: to add or improve features, fix problems, keep the app secure, prevent abuse, follow the law or a decision of an authority, or when our running costs change.

12.2 If a change affects you negatively in a meaningful way, or changes these terms in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before it applies. The only exception is urgent security or legal reasons, in which case we will tell you as soon as we can. If you don't agree, you can delete your account for free. For important changes to these terms, we will ask you to accept them again.

12.3 The app is free. If we ever add paid features, they will be optional, and we will never charge you for something you already get for free without your clear agreement.

13. Our responsibility

13.1 We work to keep the app running, but it is a free service and may sometimes be unavailable or have errors.

13.2 Quotes are written by users, not by us. We are not responsible for them unless the law says otherwise, for example if we fail to act after being told about illegal content.

13.3 You are responsible, as the law provides, for what you post.

13.4 We are fully liable for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and wherever the law does not allow liability to be limited. For slight negligence, we are only liable if we breach an obligation that is essential for the app to work as agreed, and only for the typical damage we could foresee.

13.5 Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer.

14. Law and courts

14.1 These terms are governed by German law. If you live in another country, you also keep the protection of that country's mandatory laws.

14.2 You can bring a claim in the courts where you live. We can only bring a claim against you in those courts.

15. Other things

15.1 These terms exist in English, Spanish, German, French and Italian. All versions are equally valid. If they ever differ, the meaning that is more favourable to you applies.

15.2 If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.

15.3 If we don't enforce a rule once, we can still enforce it later.

Other apps by this developer

For our other apps, sections 1, 12, 13, 14 and 15 apply as well. In addition:

  • Some apps may offer optional purchases or subscriptions, for example to remove ads. These are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store under their terms, and you keep all your legal rights as a consumer.
  • For apps that only store data on your device, such as Parking Reminder, deleting the app permanently deletes your saved data.
